Why Are Physical Distancing And Temperature Checking Controls Just The Tip Of The Iceberg?

Natural behaviour is to focus on what we know and what is in front of us. This focus is also being driven by media noise and government guidelines that have a ‘one size fits all’ feel to them. As a result, most of the noise and focus at the moment is around temperature checking, one way systems, employee training and physical distancing.

The problem for companies is that solely focusing on returning to work could endanger their ability to protect the health and safety of their workforces beyond the next 3 – 6 months. The other indisputable fact is that, not too far away, there will be a normalisation of business priorities – profit / efficiencies / cost. This means that in 6- 12 months time any resource / time-heavy processes will come under scrutiny.

It is therefore vital for business leaders, H&S and HR leaders to identify systems NOW that help them plan for the future. If they don’t then their plans to return back to an efficient and scaleable business model could be sunk by the hidden dangers below the surface.
